Law Partner, Employment and Labor Law (Lateral with Book)
A stellar boutique law firm in Irvine is seeking a dynamic Partner to add to their team. They are aggressively growing as a firm and are seeking a leader with a portable book of business.
Business Requirements:
Portable $400k+ book (or close to it) (or a small group with as close to $1mm as possible) of Employment and Labor Law cases (Wage & Hour and Management Side preferred) for domestic and/or internationally-based employers. Looking for someone with an entrepreneurial desire and corresponding work ethos to grow his/her practice and take it to the next level.
Description:
The ideal candidate will be leading a team and making strategic decisions in consultation with firm leadership, executing on those strategic decisions, and managing single plaintiff and complex class action/collective action matters, directing defense discovery efforts, taking and defending depositions (including the plaintiff’s deposition), identifying and working with expert witnesses, drafting motions (including but not limited to dispositive motions), making court appearances, engaging in direct settlement negotiations and during settlement conferences and mediation, and preparing cases for trial and arbitration. Qualifications
Minimum 8+ years of experience in labor and employment law litigation in California, and at least 4 years at the Partner level.
Experience directing and motivating a team of attorneys and legal staff to achieve top level results defending
Class action experience preferable.
Successful candidates will be highly motivated, possess excellent writing, analytical and people skills, value a collaborative team environment, and will be prepared to work independently and assume significant responsibilities.
Qualified candidates must be able to independently manage significant litigation matters, including complex class action/PAGA matters, through all phases of litigation, including opposing class certification, dispositive motions, working with experts, and trial management discovery/motion practice.
Bilingual abilities are a plus.
Education
Juris Doctor. Qualified candidates must be and remain licensed to practice law and in good standing in the state of California.
During employment, must meet requirements for continuing licensure for law practice.
