Job Title: Part-Time Middle School Teacher (Math, Science, History)
Location: Los Angeles, CA 90036
Schedule: Afternoon Hours- About 22 hours per week, there is some flexibility in the schedule, but generally Monday-Thursday 11:30 AM - 4:45 PM and Friday 11:00 AM - 1:15 PM
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Part-Time Middle School Teacher. This afternoon position requires an educator with at least 2+ years of successful classroom experience and a strong ability to manage and engage students. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching, excellent classroom management skills, and a commitment to creating a positive learning environment.
In this role, you will be responsible for planning and delivering instructional activities in a way that fosters student growth, engagement, and development. You will also ensure that students feel supported and motivated as they work through the curriculum during afternoon hours.
Classroom Instruction:
Plan and implement lesson plans aligned with the school’s curriculum and educational standards.
Engage students in activities that promote intellectual, social, and emotional growth.
Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students and create an inclusive learning environment.
Assess and evaluate student progress through assignments, tests, and observational methods.
Provide individual and small-group support as needed to help students succeed academically.
Classroom Management:
Maintain a positive and structured classroom environment by using effective classroom management techniques.
Enforce rules, expectations, and behavior guidelines to ensure a safe and productive learning space.
Build positive relationships with students and foster a classroom culture of respect, cooperation, and responsibility.
Handle disciplinary issues calmly and professionally, working with students to resolve conflicts and promote accountability.
Communication and Collaboration:
Regularly communicate with parents/guardians regarding student progress, behavior, and any concerns.
Collaborate with colleagues and staff to ensure the overall success of students and the school community.
Participate in professional development opportunities to improve teaching practices and classroom management skills.
Attend school meetings, faculty gatherings, and parent conferences as needed.
Administrative Duties:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records, including grades, attendance, and behavior logs.
Follow school policies and guidelines related to classroom routines, safety, and student well-being.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field (required).
At least 2 years of successful classroom experience at the elementary level.
Teaching certification.
Skills & Abilities:
Strong classroom management skills with the ability to maintain control and foster an engaging learning environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to differentiate instruction for students with varied learning styles and needs.
Patience, flexibility, and a genuine interest in the academic and social development of elementary-aged children.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
