Job Title: Part-Time Psychiatrist (Nursing Oversight)
Classification: Regular, Part-Time, FLSA Non-Exempt
Schedule: Approximately 11 hours per week with 5 of those onsite at programs
Location: Hybrid/Remote work arrangement
Position Overview
Seeking a compassionate, experienced Part-Time Psychiatrist to provide medical oversight, consultation, and supervision to our nursing staff. This role is essential in ensuring high-quality, evidence-based psychiatric care within our programs. The ideal candidate will bring clinical expertise, a passion for serving our community, and a commitment to continuous quality improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Medical Supervision & Consultation
- Provide clinical consultation and psychiatric oversight to nursing staff, including Nurse Practitioners, RNs and LVNs.
- Lead medication management meetings to ensure safe and effective psychopharmacological care.
- Prescribe medications when a Nurse Practitioner is unavailable, ensuring continuity of care.
- Staff Oversight & Performance Monitoring
- Orient new nursing staff and monitor clinical performance during their onboarding and probationary periods.
- Conduct ongoing performance monitoring through chart audits, utilization review, and other quality assurance processes.
- Quality Improvement
- Lead and participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives related to psychiatric care.
- Supervise nursing practices to align with clinical guidelines and promote best practices.
- Policy & Workflow Development
- Assist in developing, reviewing, and updating clinical policies and procedures relevant to psychiatric and nursing services.
- Collaborate with administrative and clinical teams to improve workflows and enhance care delivery.
Qualifications
- Required:
- MD or DO with board certification in Psychiatry.
- Active and unrestricted medical license in California.
- DEA license with authority to prescribe controlled substances.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in clinical psychiatry, including experience in supervisory or leadership roles.
- Demonstrated understanding of nursing practices within a psychiatric care setting.
- Preferred:
- Experience working in nonprofit, community-based, or integrated care settings.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care and culturally competent practices.
- Knowledge of co-occurring disorder treatment and integrated dual diagnosis care.
Compensation: $225.00 - $300.00 per hour DOE
