Job Title: Educational Director
Location: Los Angeles, CA
Overview: The Educational Director will serve as the school's lead academic and Judaic educational leader, responsible for translating the school’s mission and Jewish values into day-to-day academic practice. This role provides leadership for all general studies and Judaic programming, ensuring that academic instruction, curriculum, and student support function cohesively to meet each student’s individualized learning goals. The Educational Director oversees curriculum development, teacher supervision, student assessment, scheduling, family engagement, and program execution. Success in this role requires close collaboration with the Executive Director, Therapeutic Director, Director of Operations, Chief Strategist, faculty, families, and outside providers.
Core Responsibilities:
● Lead General and Judaic Academic programming in alignment with school’s mission and Jewish values.
● Collaborate with the Executive Director to translate school priorities into actionable academic plans and measurable outcomes.
● Develop and maintain school-wide academic and Judaic standards, policies, and procedures.
● Assessments are conducted to inform and guide curriculum implementation, ensuring instruction is aligned with student needs and supports meaningful progress.
● Oversee curriculum development, implementation, and ongoing adaptation to meet student needs.
● Ensure alignment of individualized learning plans with academic and Judaic goals.
● Supervise classroom management and instructional strategies across cohorts.
● Make cohort placement decisions collaboratively with the Therapeutic Director.
● Manage master schedules, daily substitute schedules, rainy day schedules, and state testing logistics.
● Oversee WASC accreditation compliance and reporting.
● Support early childhood structuring and age-appropriate programming.
● Coordinate curriculum mapping and academic assessment modalities.
● Supervise, mentor, and evaluate lead teachers, teaching assistants, Judaic staff, and preschool staff.
● Lead weekly collaborative meetings with faculty and staff.
● Plan and implement professional development focused on curriculum, classroom management, assessment, and instructional strategies.
● Oversee academic modifications and curriculum scaffolding for general studies and Judaic studies.
● Collaborate with Therapeutic Director when academic progress intersects with behavioral and social-emotional needs.
● Build intervention plans in partnership with Therapeutic Director to provide support with academic and therapeutic needs.
● Serve as the escalation point for academic issues and student concerns.
● Manage daily academic operations, including classroom schedules, staff assignments, and student cohort organization.
● Oversee cleaning and upkeep of classrooms and learning spaces.
● Collaborate with Executive Director and Director of Operations on resource allocation, budgeting, and enrollment logistics.
● Manage substitutes for general education and Judaic teachers.
● Maintain regular communication with families regarding student academic progress and Judaic learning.
● Lead educational community-building initiatives, newsletters, parent workshops, and family-student team meetings.
Qualifications & Experience
● Master’s degree in Special Education, Educational Leadership, or related field required; advanced credentials preferred.
● 7–10+ years of leadership experience in special education or inclusive school settings.
● Proven ability to lead integrated and individualized academic and Judaic programs.
● Deep knowledge of IEP development, differentiated instruction, curriculum supervision and assessments, data-informed instruction, and special education law.
● Experience integrating Judaic learning and values-based programming.
Compensation: $110,000-$130,000 DOE
